Smooth away the lines that the years have etched on your face. Botox evens out the fine lines and wrinkles that form due to the continued contraction of the muscles, as the skin loses elasticity.
The areas that respond best to Botox are the vertical frown lines between the eyebrows, horizontal furrows on the forehead, crow’s feet, and the bands of the neck.
Treatment
Botox is a registered trademark name of a preparation of Botulinum Toxin A, a toxin that weakens the facial muscles, allowing them to relax and create smoothness in the skin. Other trade names include Dysport and Xeomin.
The treatment is applied via a series of injections into the infected area. A local anaesthetic cream is usually applied prior to the injections. The procedure takes 10 to 30 minutes; effects are seen in 3 or 4 days and last 4 to 6 months.
Possible side effects or complications
Immediately after the treatment you may notice or light bruising. Some people experience a slight headache during the first week. Botox does not pose any permanent risks in healthy individuals.
It is possible that the results do not produce an entirely symmetrical finish. In addition, 1 to 5 patients experience the drooping of the eyelid, however this spontaneously resolves itself within 3 to 4 weeks.
