A procedure that creates the figure flattering curves of firm, shapely thighs, by removing excess skin and fat from the thigh area.

The procedure

A thigh lift may be done with or without liposuction, and the surgical approach taken will vary depending on where most of the excess is distributed. The procedure can take between 2 to 4 hours and is done under general anaesthetic.

The recovery time is 4 to 6 weeks, however during the first 4 weeks, movement is restricted, and excessive flexion should be avoided.

Possible side effects and complications

Common side effects include wound breakdown – necessitating treatment with dressings – or the widening of scars due to the tightness of the skin, or due to patient movement.

Complications may include bleeding, infection and fluid collection.
